BRENDAN RODGERS saw the Kop pinch a priceless Euro win — and now expects to nick Real Madrid’s Nuri Sahin.
The Kop boss is confident the Turkish midfielder, 23, will sign on a season-long loan from the Spanish giants in the next couple of days.
Sahin, 23, had looked set to join Arsenal but Rodgers said: “It is quite far along the line and he’s a very good footballer indeed.”
Sahin’s signing would make it double cause for celebration after Andy Webster’s 78th-minute own goal left Liverpool with one foot in the Europa League proper.
Rodgers, who watched in dismay as his team was demolished 3-0 at West Brom on Saturday, admitted: “The goal was well worked but we’re not that good to be complacent.”
Liverpool now entertain champions Manchester City on Sunday and defender Jamie Carragher, said: “We got a bit of a bump at West Brom but we came here and got the result.
“Now we look forward to Manchester City, which is a massive game.
“It’s a new manager coming in, finding his feet if you like.”
