Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool target Arturo Vidal has crashed his red Ferrari while under the influence of alcohol following a night out at a casino in Santiago, Chile.
Currently Chile is hosting a major South American football tournament, the Copa America, and this will not come as good news for the home team after the Juventus midfielder scored three goals in Chile’s opening two games.
Chilean national police spokesman Colonel Ricardo Gonzalez confirmed “The driver of the red vehicle was under the influence of alcohol.”
Vidal is understood to have sustained minor injuries and is the custody of the police awaiting an appointment to be charged by a local judge.
AP adds that Vidal “crashed the vehicle when he was driving with his wife on a highway south of the Chilean capital on their way back from a casino.”
The Chilean international did not waste time in letting his fans know he is ok taking to twitter to write: “Unfortunately I was involved in a traffic accident, luckily we are all well and calm. Thanks for worrying.”
There is however concern that Vidal may have played his last Copa America game which could prove to be a big blow for Chile.
