There is a sense of feeling around the Gunners that they can pull it off and land Liverpool’s Luis Suarez. Odds on Suarez joining Arsenal was significantly dropped by betting portals such as www.bookmakers.co.uk
This week manager Arsene Wenger is going back to Liverpool with a second offer after having his initial offer rejected immediately by the Merseysiders.
Arsenal are not the only horse in the race to have the controversial Uruguayan sign for them as Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini looks to bolster his team to take the Premiership title back to the other side of Manchester.
While it has been suggested not only by the press, but by the player himself that Real Madrid would be his first choice, yet the Spanish giants are yet to make an approach for one of the Premierships deadliest strikers.
Arsenal have also not given up on signing Gonzalo Higuain but the two clubs cannot come to an agreement with Arsenals offer just under three million euros short of what Madrid want for the Argentinian.
Rodgers is of course still saying that Suarez is not for sale, but if a club should come in with an offer of over £40 million Liverpool would then be willing to listen.
