Yesterday the Daily Express were claiming that a deal had been reached between Liverpool and Basel said to be £10  for the Egyptian winger and  Mohamed Salah was due to fly in today to undergo a physical at Liverpool’s Melwood training facility.

Reports in the Egyptian press were also confirming that it was a done deal, yet less than 24 hours later we are hearing reports quoted by the Daily Mail that Chelsea was going to make a last minute bid using the funds they had just acquired from the sale of Juan Mata to Manchester United.

Some good news for Liverpool though is it looks like Jon Flanagan will be fit for the derby match with Everton and that Lucas Leiva has tweeted that his knee injury is not as bad as they had feared.

I would like to let you know that my injury isn’t serious and I will be back in a few weeks. Thanks #relieved #thedreamstillalive
