According to reports Manchester United is close to agreeing a deal with Lazio that will see Dutch striker Robin van Persie move to the Roman club for £11 million.

Since the arrival of new manager Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford the now 31-year-old striker has found himself on the edge of LVG’s first team despite the fact he managed to score 13 goals in 36 appearances last season.

RVP has one year to run on his current contract with the Red devils but given his age and the amount the club pays him in wages it would be good to sell him on now rather than see him walk next summer for free.

Reports in Italy claim that Serie A side Lazio is prepared to offer RVP a four-year-contract at the Stadio Olimpico, and see him as the ideal replacement for Miroslav Klose.
