Manager Roberto Mancini has confirmed Manchester City are in talks over potential new signings and expects new arrivals within two weeks.

Roberto Mancini expects Manchester City signings within two weeks

The Blues boss seemed frustrated over the Blues’ lack of activity in the transfer market ahead of the pre-season game against Arsenal in Beijing.

Gunners striker Robin van Persie is City’s most high profile target but Mancini hinted there could be other arrivals.

He said: “We want to improve by signing new players and I’m sure in the next two weeks we can do something about signing new players.”

Mancini added: “We have a lot of players, I don’t think we need ten new ones. We need to improve some positions, but I won’t say two, three, one.

“Any new player must come here and help the team improve. We are talking to some players, but the market is difficult so we need more time.”

Arsenal boss Wenger said there was nothing more to report on the Van Persie situation, adding: “Van Persie is close to fitness. But we have not had any more contact from City or United about him.”

Mancini added: “If he said this, I think it’s true. Van Persie is one of the best strikers so it’s difficult to buy him.”
