Manchester United has been linked over the past few days with a move for Atletico Madrid Striker Mario Mandzukic, and has now been given a huge boost in their efforts to sign the former Bayern Munich frontman after Atletico trainer Diego Simeone to Spanish newspaper AS that the Croatian international frustrates him.
The 29-year-old was in fine form for the mattress-makers scoring 20 goals up until February, before hitting a dry spell that did not see him find the back of the net for the final three months.
He told AS: “What’s my view on Mandzukic? He annoys me easily, that’s the reality. He is a great player and a decent lad.
“He himself is down about not maintaining the form he displayed up until February. We sat down together and aimed to improve on his record of 28 goals at Bayern. This wasn’t possible and it upset him.”
