Let’s be honest Liverpool fans did any of you actually want to see the club pay £32 million for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke?
Yes we admit he is a goal scorer and a beast with his head, yet deep down know he is not the right man for the job, as we already have Mario Balotelli and he turned out to be a waste of space and a good salary that could have been paid to someone else who could actually score goals.
The reason why the Belgium international will not join Liverpool is the same as every other overpaid football gives and that is he wants to play Champions League football, and will not be able to do that at Anfield next season.
In our opinion Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers needs to sign a striker who is a similar type of player to Luis Suarez, a player who is so good that the opposition spend all their time worrying about him, which is why when he was playing for Liverpool other people like Raheem Sterling were given much more room, hence the number of goals Liverpool scored in 2013/2014 compared to last season.
Time will tell who the Reds end up signing, but we think they have dodged a bullet after being knocked out of the race for Benteke.
