Antonio Conte will take charge of his first competitive game as Chelsea manager as they host West Ham on Monday, in the last game of BPL opening round.
There are no fresh injury concerns for Chelsea. Kurt Zouma remains sidelined as he’s gaining full fitness after a knee injury. The Italian manager intends to build his defence around John Terry anyway, who will be paired with Tim Cahill.
Big signing N’Golo Kante will likely be handed a start. The other summer signing Michy Batshuayi will wait on the bench as Diego Costa leads the line.
Provisional Chelsea squad: Courtois – Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta, Kante, Matic, Fabregas, Willian, Costa, Begovic, Hector, Batshuayi, Pedro, Kenedy, Loftus-Cheek, Cuadrado.
Chelsea (4-2-3-1): Courtois – Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta – Kante, Matic – Willian, Fabregas, Hazard – Costa. Manager Antonio Conte.
Slaven Bilić could hand several debuts as Andre Ayew, Sofiane Feghouli, Havard Nordtveit, Gokhan Tore and Arthur Masuaku all bid for a first Irons appearance.
Andre Ayew is expected to take Payet’s place on the left wing. Dimitri Payet will not be fit to play the whole game after his lengthy Euro 2016 campaign with France. If he will make a start, West Ham should line up in 4-2-3-1 with him as the number 10. If not, the Hammers could be in a 4-3-3 formaton with Noble, Nordtveit and Kouyate in midfield.
West Ham will be without Aaron Cresswell and Manuel Lanzini. Byram or Masuaku will start on left fullback.
