Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is looking to use Filipe Luis as bait in order to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke.

After having been knocked out of the Champions League the Blues boss has been promised big money by the club for transfers this summer to help the team win the competition next season.

The Portuguese manager is a huge fan of the 23-year-old who only just 10 months ago signed a new five-year deal with the Spanish club, but Mourinho hopes that Diego Simeone’s desire in having Brazilian left-back Filipe Luis return to his old club will sway the Argentinian manager into doing a cash and player deal for Koke.

The two clubs now have a great relationship between them after Chelsea loaned them Belgium international goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois for three seasons, with Chelsea also signing Diego Costa and Luis from the Mattress Makers last season.

And while Costa has become a main player for Chelsea, Luis remains mostly benched as Mourinho prefers to star Spaniard César Azpilicueta in the left-back position.

Meanwhile Chelsea has denied reports in the Spanish press that the 29-year-old Luis is unhappy at Stamford Bridge and that he was looking to return to Madrid, with suggestions that the Spaniards will approach Chelsea in the summer to take him back.

Given Atletico’s current financial position the La Liga champions will have to listen to offers for Koke, but Chelsea would face opposition from both Manchester clubs and also Barcelona.

Simeone said: “He is one of those all-round midfielders who is gifted at reading the game, he knows how to play in different positions in the centre and he has very good peripheral vision.”

Two other big name signings on Chelsea’s radar are defenders Raphael Varane and Marquinhos along with Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi.

If Chelsea can pull these moves off what a team the Blues will have for next season!
