Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has confirmed that Atletico Madrid has had talks with Santi Cazorla and that Diego Simeone team had agreed terms with Cazorla ahead of a move to the Spanish capital next summer.
When the news broke yesterday it was dismissed as just a rumour as Arsenal would never allow their best player to leave the Emirates without a fight.
Talking to Sky Sports Balague said: ‘He has 18 months left on his contract at Arsenal, and Atletico have contacted Cazorla’s entourage.’
‘Atletico are convinced that they can persuade the player to join them. Then they just have to pay the money.
‘There will be one year left on his contract in the summer, and will be available for cheaper.’
This news comes after Gaizka Mendieta told Sky he thinks that the Gunners midfielder ‘would relish’ a return to Spain.
