Spanish radio station Cadena Cope is claiming that Atletico Madrid’s on-loan from Chelsea goal keeper Thibaut Courtois will return to Stamford Bridge where he will compete with Petr Cech for the starting keeper position.

After having been signed from Genk in 2011 the now 22-year-old has been on –loan at Atletico Madrid where he has developed into becoming one of the world’s best goalkeepers.

If the radio station is correct his last game for Atletico will be in the Champions League final against rivals Real Madrid before joining up with the Belgium World Cup squad.

Atletico fans do have a small sliver of hope in that a deal involving Courtois sating one more season was a part of the Diego Costa to Chelsea transfer, yet on previous occasions Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has talked about bringing him back to provide competition for Cech.
