Arsenal has made a bid of £7.1 million for Tottenham target, Espanyol defender Hector Moreno, after watching the 27-year-old put in some impressive La Liga performances this season following a broken leg he suffered in last summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil.

Both Arsenal and Tottenham have been following the Mexican internationals performance this past season, and now according to reports the Gunners are in the driving seat when it comes to a move to the Premiership.

Despite having already signed Gabriel Paulista, manager Arsene Wenger feels he is still short when it comes to central defenders and sees Moreno as the man to ease his concerns.

Also unlike the question marks that hung over bringing Paulista to London, he will have no troubles obtaining a work permit for Moreno, as the former AZ Alkmaar defender already have 58 caps for Mexico.
