Arsenal have suffered in injury blow with the Daily Mail in what they call an exclusive reporting that Kieran Gibbs will now miss at least to Premiership matches and England’s international friendly against Denmark after being rules out with an injury he sustained during Arsenal’s loss to Bayern Munich.
The 24-year-old limped off in the 31st minute after feeling a pain in his lower back and hamstring during the 0-2 loss to the German champions.
The good news is that after a scan it only appears to be minor damage that will see Gibbs side-lined for between two to three weeks.
Not only is this bad news for Arsenal, but could be even worse for Gibbs as he tries to beat out Ashley Cole as Leighton Baines back-up for the left-back position in this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, yet with Cole now getting very little playing time at Chelsea Gibbs should still manage to get the nod despite having to compete with Nacho Monreal for his place in the Arsenal team.
Gibbs has three international caps for England after taking part in the World Cup qualifying wins over Montenegro and Poland last October.
