It had been rumoured for weeks that Arsenal were close to signing Nurnberg striker Josip Drmic, with even Lothar Matthaus unequivocally saying back in April that the Swiss footballer was on his way to the Emirates saying: “You will see Drmic will go to Arsenal for 8 million – I was right before and I’ll be right again.”

It appears now however that the former German captain could be very wrong with reports in German newspaper Bild this morning claiming that the 21-year-old has signed for Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen for €6 million.

Drmic has scored 19 goals in 36 appearances for Nurnberg this season, and if BIld is correct a bargain that Arsenal let slip from their fingers at only six million euro’s.
