Morgan Schneiderlin is ‘desperate’ to join Arsenal this summer, despite the fact that Southampton has offered him a new contract that sees his salary double from £30k to £60k per-week.

Even before the January transfer window it was evident that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger needed to bring in a defensive midfielder, and rather than someone no one had ever heard of it was assumed that he would wait until the summer before trying to sign Premier League experienced French international Morgan Schneiderlin.

There was even talk a few weeks ago saying that the 25-year-old already had a verbal agreement with Arsenal, and it would appear that Southampton’s new offer will not be enough to keep him at Saint Mary’s.

The former Strasbourg player is according to reports desperate to join the Gunners in the season for what is believed to be £25million and despite interest from Barcelona Arsenal is in pole position to sign him with the Catalan giants banned from the transfer market till January 2016.
