What Rooney could look like playing for Shanghai SIPG in the Chinese Super League or for LA Galaxy in the MLS

Manchester United Manager, Jose Mourinho, refuses to guarantee that Captain Wayne Rooney would still be at the club at the start of next season despite Rooney confirming he will not be leaving the club this season.

Rooney, 31, has made 17 starting appearances, scoring only 2 goals this season and though Mourinho has stated he wants Rooney to stay, he certainly doesn’t seem to be apart of his future plans.

There has been plenty of speculation in regards to Rooney’s future, including a move to the newly enriched Chinese Super League where a reported £75 million over 3 years was offered by Shanghai SIPG, the club where former Chelsea midfielder Oscar moved to in January. The Chinese Super League’s stature would certainly increase further were Rooney to move to Asia. But is that his ideal destination?

Clubs from the MLS are reportedly interested too, New York Red Bulls for one and with Steven Gerrard returning to Liverpool in a coaching role, L.A Galaxy could be interested in signing the Manchester United forward as their next high profile signing. For Rooney and his family, USA would be a more ideal destination.

If Wayne Rooney is to leave Manchester United, where will he go? Or where would you like to see him play next?
