Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has decided that he wants to get his current squad fully-fit and see where he stands before making any further moves in the transfer market.

Arsenal made their first signing last week when they landed Petr Cech from Chelsea, and while there has been talk of a big name striker arriving at the Emirates, Wenger is of the opinion that the best way to improve is to get the squad he has now fully-fit.

Two players in particular are of interest to the Frenchman, and they are Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere both of whom missed large periods of last season through injury.

Wenger told the club website: “The best way to strengthen other areas of the team is to get the players who did not play a lot last year and keep them fit.”

“Walcott basically did not play until the end of the season, Wilshere has not played many games. Those two were very convincing at the end of the season so I hope that this season we can benefit from their participation and competitiveness.”
