Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made a personal plea to Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas to join Arsenal according to the Daily Express.

With the Spanish number one keeper now free to leave Real Madrid and with Arsenal desperate for a backup goalkeeper after having lost Lukasz Fabianski, Wenger would be happy to have Casillas and all his experience move to the Emirates.

The situation at the Santiago Bernabeu remains unclear with it looking increasingly like Real Madrid will sell current number one goalkeeper Diego Lopez this summer allowing Casillas to get his top spot back.

The 33-year-old Casillas had a difficult season and a horrendous time at the World Cup that had the Spanish papers claim he was ready to retire.

Wenger however feels he still has a few years left, and picked up the phone to let him know he would be welcome at Arsenal.

Should Casillas turn his back on Spain, London could be an obvious choice as both he and partner Sara Carbonero love the U.K.s capital, but here at Soccer Transfers we find it hard to believe he would move from the club where he has played his entire life, and point Arsenal fans in the direction of Nice and Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina who we feel is an exceptional option for Arsenal.
