ARSENE WENGER saw Arsenal climb up to third after Mikel Arteta’s penalty winner at Wigan and joked: “I don’t believe it.”

Arsenal’s third League win on the trot lifted them into the Champions League spots as Chelsea play today.

Wenger said: “It’s good but not enough. We want more and I hope that gives us a bit more belief and confidence so that we can play much more positively.

“Away from home, our record is quite good. We’ve only lost at Manchester United and Norwich since the beginning of the season.”

Gunners’ Boxing Day clash with West Ham is off because of a Tube strike in London so they have a breather before travelling to Newcastle on Saturday.

Wenger said: “I would have preferred to play. When the team is on a roll, you want them to go out and play, you know.”

Theo Walcott played as a central striker again and Wenger added: “For me, he has the ingredients to play there. Today again he got the decision and he got the penalty.”

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain spoke for the first time since signing a new deal earlier this week.

He said: “We’ve got some really exciting young players. It does look bright for us.”
