According to reports out of Spain this morning carried by Fichajes top Spanish La Liga side Athletic Bilbao are desperate to sign Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal.
Since 1912 the club has had a policy of only signing Basque born players which the Arsenal defender is being born in Pamplona and while they have been forced to stretch the rules they always try to sign players from the Basque regions of Spain and France.
Monreal is currently Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger’s first choice at left-back, but with Athletic Bilbao willing to pay a premium for the 29-year-old Wenger would sell providing he can find a suitable alternative.
Plus the Gunners already have Kieran Gibbs in place to take over immediately should Monreal be allowed to return home.
