Despite all the talk linking Arsenal to the AC Milan striker including the connection with Puma Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is talking down any desire to sign Mario Balotelli for Arsenal.

The 64-year-old Frenchman said that the story is not true and that Arsenal were not interested in Balotelli despite the fact they are in the market for a top striker this summer.

When asked by Ruud Gullit on beIN Sport’s World Cup show if he was buying the 23-year-old Italian international Wenger relied: ‘No. No, that’s pure invention.

‘We cannot believe absolutely everything that is on internet or is in newspapers.

‘Sometimes it’s created by agents or by press who needs news. But in that case, it’s not true.’

Arsenal can look forward to the return of Costa Rican striker Joel Campbell who along with Olivier Giroud and Yaya Sanogo up front may prove to be enough for the Gunners next season; even though we have a sneaky feeling Wenger has someone in mind to lead the attack.
