Arsenal has raised the ante in the race to sign Real Madrid midfielder Isco after manager Arsene Wenger sanctions a £35 million bid for the former Malaga star.

The Sunday People newspaper is today reporting that Wenger is very keen on bringing the 22-year-old from Benalmádena to London and is prepared to pay £35 million to make it happen.

It all could come down to whether Madrid can sign Paul Pogba from Juventus or Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Verratti, but even if neither of these deals come off Arsenal still think they can get their man.

Following yesterday’s extra time winner in the FA Cup semi-final with Reading, the Gunners are expected to have a busy summer in the transfer market as they try to narrow the gap between themselves and Chelsea for next season, and after having brought in one marquee signing for two-years-in-a-row, in Ozil and then Sanchez, Isco could very well be the player Wenger has lined up for this summer.
