Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants to follow up the signing of Santi Cazorla by bringing more new faces to the club, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Wenger wants more Arsenal transfers to follow Cazorla

Cazorla signed in with the Gunners on Tuesday, joining from Malaga in a transfer that could be worth up to £16m. The Mirror claim Wenger hopes to add a versatile defender to his ranks next, with Ajax’s Gregory van der Wiel a contender as the boss seeks a right-back who can also switch to central defence if need be. Marseille’s Nicolas N’Koulou is also on the radar.

But a loan deal for Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin looks unlikely to go ahead, the Mirror suggests, after Liverpool appeared to move into the driver’s seat to sign the Turkey midfielder. The newspaper adds that Wenger will only follow up on his interest in Sahin if Barcelona bid for Alex Song.

After completing his move to Arsenal Cazorla admitted he spoke with two former Gunners, Cesc Fabregas and Robert Pires, who convinced him to move to the Emirates Stadium.
