Tottenham have entered the race for the signature of Lyon’s hot striker Alexandre Lacazette who is also reported to be interesting Premier League giants Manchester United.

Lacazette has replicated his last season’s sublime form scoring 20 goals in 41 games for Lyon in all competitions this season. Lyon are known as tough negotiators especially when it comes to their valued players. The French club are also reported to be ready to sell the striker for £34 million to any interested club.

Manchester United are hoping to out bid Mauricio Pochettino for the French man. The Old Trafford club are also hoping to lure the French man with the opportunity of playing in the Champions League after it became clear that Louis Van Gaal’s team will displace Manuel Pellegrini’s (Manchester City) side from 4th place if they win
their last two games against West Ham and Bournemouth. This will come as a huge blow to Spurs who thought the striker will favour a move to White Hart Lane over Old Trafford as a result of the inability of United to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Spurs are planning on making a first bid of £23.5 million which Lyon might reject with the hope of getting a better bid from the likes of West Ham, Liverpool and Manchester United who have all made inquiries regarding the availability of the striker in the summer’s transfer market. At 24, Lacazette is expected to form a lethal partnership with Harry Kane who has made headlines since becoming a regular first team player under Pochettino.

Lacazette is seen as a better player than West Brom’s Saido Berahino who has been in a transfer war with Jeremy Pearce (West Brom’s Chief Executive) since making it public he wanted to join Spurs last season. Spurs see Berahino as expensive and more difficult to sign.
