Manchester united skipper Wayne Rooney has been criticised recently for his level of performances for the club which is becoming a thing of concern with both club and country expecting much from him.

Although Wayne Rooney has scored for the club this season in their opening Premier League fixture, his performances is well below par and many are calling for the striker to be dropped especially with the arrival of Radamel Falcao from Monaco.

Wayne Rooney’s only Premier league goal so far came against Swansea in Old Trafford when the striker’s equaliser gave the team a glimpse of hope but they eventually fell 2-1 to the visitors.

The following match against Sunderland produced nothing spectacular from the English forward.

Although, Wayne Rooney promised the Manchester United season will kick start away at the Stadium of Light against Sunderland, the striker in particular proved to be off in the encounter with Manchester United only goal coming from Juan Mata.

The club captain was left out of the trip to Mk Dons and will be grateful for not been part of the team that lost heavily at the Mk stadium where United succumbed to a 4-0 defeat to the league one side.

Manchester United introduced Angel Di Maria in their third Premier League match against Burnley but Rooney was rarely seen in the match as he hardly came close to the end of any kind of opportunity, although his run and eventual pass to open up Valencia on the right flank in the final few minutes of the game must be applauded but the inability of the winger to produce a good cross made the opportunity go unnoticed.

Many have criticised Wayne Rooney for his lack of fire power and potency as Manchester United remains in a very difficult position in the league while some believes it’s too early to criticise the striker.

Wayne Rooney was recently named the England national team captain and will have a double responsibility to lead both club and country.

Wayne Rooney is not the first to be in that position with the likes of John Terry been involved at a time but Wayne’s additional responsibility of scoring lot of goals will pull the weight on him.

It is not a fair criticism as the whole Manchester United squad have not been on a good run of form and a player shouldn’t be singled out for criticism.

Robin Van Persie didn’t manage any shot on target against Sunderland and had just one against Burnley with no goal so far in two games.

Juan Mata although scored against Sunderland, he has not been in fine run of form either which is evident on the team’s overall performance.

Wayne Rooney is expected to lead the English team against Norway although Norwegian defender Vegard Forren accused the striker of been chubby which may have added to his recent loss of form since his best season in 2010.
