Paris St Germain are preparing an amazing £100million bid to sign England striker Wayne Rooney, according to sources on the continent.

Wayne Rooney 'being targeted in £100million PSG raid'

Money is no object to the club who finished second in Ligue 1 last season and manager Carlo Ancelotti has identified the Manchester United striker as the man to take PSG to new heights.

It was reported in Spain that Lionel Messi was the French side’s prime target, but realising it would be almost impossible to land the Barcelona star,  have turned their attentions to Rooney.

The 26-year-old put in a transfer request at Old Trafford in October 2010, but signed a bumper new contract after being convinced to stay by manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Rooney now appears to be completely settled at United, and after scoring 27 league goals last season, it’s unlikely Fergie would contemplate selling.

However, United did sell star player Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid for a world record £80million fee, and with the club in debt, a £100million offer may be enough to tempt the Red Devils’ American owners.
