It would appear as if Arsenal has taken the final step towards signing Barcelona forward Pedro Rodriguez after making the Catalan giants a formal bid for the 27-year-old Canarian.

The Gunners are now sitting back waiting a response from Barcelona, and should the La Liga winners agree, it could spell the end of England international Theo Walcott’s time at the Emirates as the 26-year-old get pushed further down manager Arsene Wenger’s pecking order.

Currently Walcott is not doing himself any favours trying to drag out contract negotiations with Arsenal, and unlike the last time when he negotiated from a position of strength this time could find himself on the chopping block.

Salvation however could appear at Liverpool especially if they sell Raheem Sterling this summer which looks as though it could be very much on the cards, so don’t be surprised if you see Walcott at Anfield next season should Pedro turn up in north London.
