Scott Parker is set to hand Tottenham a boost by returning to action quicker than expected – with the midfielder penciled in to play in a fortnight.

The combative midfielder has not played this season after undergoing surgery on his Achilles’ injury.

Andre Villas-Boas has had to make do without the England international and Parker was expected to be out until Christmas.

But Spurs have received some good news as his rehabilitation has gone well and Villas-Boas hopes to have him back soon.

“There has been a slight improvement,” AVB said. “We have pushed him in exercise and running.

“We have time and are allowing the player to feel 100 per cent.

“Hopefully we will have him fit in a few weeks.”
