Manchester United is preparing themselves for a whirlwind last 48 hours in the transfer market with as many as five players on their way out of Old Trafford.

On the way in are the Dutch duo of Nigel de Jong and Daley Blind with De Jong due to fly in today for a medical ahead of a proposed £10 million deal.

Meanwhile yesterday United confirmed that they had agreed to pay Ajax £16 million for defender Daley Blind subject to a medical and personal terms being agreed.

It is however in the opposite direction where United will be doing the most business with the first out the door Tom Cleverly believed to be on his way to Aston Villa for £7 million with both Everton and La Liga side Valencia still not sure if they will put a late bid in or not.

The Daily Star is today reporting that it appears as if Japanese international Shinji Kagawa could return to his former club Borussia Dortmund for £8m, and that England striker Danny Welbeck has a host of clubs interested in signing him including Tottenham.

Others thought to be on the move include Javier Hernandez, Anderson, Marouane Fellaini and goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard.

It seems unlikely that all these deals can be done before Monday night’s deadline, but it does show Louis van Gaal’s desire to completely rebuild the team when he said yesterday: “Blind is coming for his medical, so maybe we will have a new player.

“I also believe that by the time we play next Marcos Rojo will have his work permit.

“Departures? It is up to the players involved.

“I always say this because it is their decision.”
