LOUIS VAN GAAL last night told Liverpool he is desperate to get back into football management.

Van Gaal in Kop plea

SunSport exclusively revealed the ex-Holland boss had been approached as a replacement for Kenny Dalglish — and not necessarily as sporting director.

Van Gaal, 60, insists he wants to coach again, not be stuck behind a desk.

He said: “My fingers are itching. I’m full of fire and want to work with players.

“I get dozens of offers but I’m waiting for the best one.”

The Kop side expect to announce an appointment early next week.

Andre Villas-Boas’ chances look slim but the Reds still intend to talk to Wigan’s Roberto Martinez.
