Now entering the final year of his contract at the Etihad Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko is the subject of a possible £20 million bid from Spanish La Liga side Valencia according to the Daily Star.

Despite City manager Manuel Pellegrini wanting the Bosnian striker to stay at Manchester City Valencia flush with cash after being taken over by Singapore businessman Peter Lim are said to be willing to sign Dzeko and make him their number one striker unlike at City where he competes with Agüero and Negrado each week.

Dzeko is just one of six City players whose contracts expire next year, and while it is believed City will offer the 28-year-old another two years Valencia are willing to offer him a four year deal.

Two other clubs in the hunt for a big name striker are Chelsea and Arsenal for whom Dzeko would be a good signing and when you hear what Jose Mourinho has to say about him it makes you wonder why he is not at Stamford Bridge already.

Mourinho said: “The kind of player he is, he’s not just a goal-scorer. He assists, he plays, he behaves, he’s fair, doesn’t dive, doesn’t try to put opponents in the stands with an accumulation of cards.

“He was the third choice striker at the beginning of the season. He was hidden behind his manager’s first choices and when the team needed him in crucial moments of the season, I think he made the difference.

“In this moment I think he has 16 goals. Sixteen goals for the third striker is something spectacular.”
