Highly-rated Uruguayan striker Kevin Mendez is according to talkSPORT and Tuttomercatoweb ready to turn down the chance to play for Manchester United choosing Arsenal ahead of the Red Devils.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has already approached the 18-year-old who plays in his home country for Club Atletico Penarol after scouts have been following his international progress in youth football.

Despite LVG’s interest Arsenal could sign the U-20 international this January even though his clubs is reluctant to sell, they may however be forced to do so if Arsenal puts in a big bid.

Mendez caught everyone’s attention last year when he scored two goals in the FIFA U-17 World Cup and is being tipped as a star of the future by Barcelona striker Luis Suarez.
