Many will criticise former manager Sir Alex Ferguson for not planning for the future before he retired from the club.

It was 25 fruitful years with Manchester United but Sir Alex Ferguson according to many left a team that is already past their peak and he didn’t plan for the future of the club.

Another major setback was also the retirement of David Gill from the Executive Vice Chairman position.

Manchester United had a terrible season in 2013/2014 under David Moyes and this season under Louis Van Gaal is not looking any better as they are currently placed 14th on the table with 3 games played.

Louis Van Gaal hinted there will be transfer activities with players to leave and others arrive just less than 2 days to the end of the summer transfer window.

Manchester United has seen the arrival of four new players so far. Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and Ryan Giggs all left the club leaving the team void of experienced players.

Manchester United inability to make the UEFA Champions League made it more difficult to lure in top players easily. The erratic performance so far has left the manager with no option than to make important signings.

Nani already left the club on loan to Sporting Lisbon in a deal that saw Manchester United sign defender, Marcos Rojo who will have to sort out his work permit before he can make his debut.

Luke Shaw became the most expensive teenage when Manchester United signed him earlier in the summer with Ander Herrera joining also in Manchester United.

The club broke the British record transfer by signing Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid for around £60 million and the manager is still looking to strengthen his squad especially in the midfield and defence.

Out of the four new arrivals, only Di Maria is available for selection with Luke Shaw and Herrera ruled out due and Rojo sorting out his work permit.

Michael Carrick who is arguably Manchester United best midfielder over the years is presently out of the squad for another two months leaving the midfield as porous as ever with Darren Fletcher not up to the top level.

Cleverley, Fletcher, Fellaini and Anderson are all struggling to stake a place with their inconsistent form.

Powell is young and learning and Fletcher case is well understood with him just returning from years off the pitch.

Tom Cleverley, Anderson, Fellaini, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck are all wanted by different clubs. Shinji Kagawa is reported to be set for a return to Dortmund while there are reports Manchester United have accepted bids for Tom Cleverley.

As much as Louis Van Gaal is trying to trim the squad and replace with quality, it’s certain he won’t offload everyone as cover up will be needed for the first team members in case of injuries or suspension.

Either Welbeck or Chicharito is expected to leave with Fellaini, Anderson and Cleverley also open to move before the end of the transfer window.

Ajax has agreed to sell Daley Blind’s according to Manchester United website with reports suggesting Arturo Vidal is still in the plans.

There is no much information about a new central defender which is what Manchester United need at the moment with the current crop of centre backs looking unfit for the new system.
