Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas is looking to add Manchester United’s Mexican international striker Javier Hernandez to the club in January after already spending over £100 million during the summer on transfers after the sale of Welsh international Gareth Bale to Real Madrid for a world-record £86 million.

The move for out of favour United striker will be partly funded from the sale of Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor who is apparently not a part of the Portuguese managers plans for the club.

The London newspaper the Evening Standard is reporting that Turkish side Besiktas is still a possible destination for Adebayor, even though Spurs failed to tie up a deal for him in the summer due to his high wage demands.

Even though his chances of getting back in the first team at Tottenham fellow striker Jermaine Defoe still believes the tall striker still has something to offer saying: “He is someone that we’re going to need. Hopefully he will be back soon with the team.”

Meanwhile Manchester United’s Hernandez has said while speaking to Mexican television station Deportes Telemundo.

“I am going on four years here at Manchester United and, like I have always said, I am happy to be able to play for one of the best clubs in the world.

“I am happy, doing my best every single day to earn more minutes on the pitch.

“All of us want to be able to contribute our part so this team can win championships.

“I know my performance on the pitch will allow me to achieve that goal someday either here [in Manchester] or elsewhere for any other club.

“I just need to be given more opportunities to showcase what I can do.”
