Theo Walcott has spent much of this season out injured making only eight Premier League appearances for the Gunners, while also finding himself on the bench rather than being a part of manager Arsene Wenger’s starting XI following the summer signings of Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck.

It makes you wonder what Walcott has been watching while sitting on the bench though when he comes out with the statement that Arsenal was the best team in Europe.

Not to take anything away from Arsenal as they have put in some terrific performances in the League, but it is a bit far-fetched to lay claim to how well the club has performed in Europe especially given the match at the Emirates with tiny Monaco.

This is what Walcott told Arsenal.com: ‘I think, especially this season, not many people thought we would be challenging for the Premier League.

‘But in this calendar year we have been the best team in Europe. It is the strongest the squad has been, and everyone is staying fit as well.’

Walcott also thinks that the Gunners can win the Premiership next season, which is not as crazy as his Europe comments providing Wenger, sticks his hand in his pocket and buys a few quality players we also think Arsenal will be at the top of the table.

He said: ‘If we had an injury-free season, I think we could lift the title.’
