CARL JENKINSON is set for his first England cap in the friendly with Sweden in Stockholm next month.

So Swede for Jenks

The Arsenal right-back, 20, is not in the squad for this month’s World Cup ties against San Marino and Poland.

But boss Roy Hodgson said Jenkinson, a £1million signing from Charlton, is very much in his plans.

There is also likely to be a debut for Liverpool youngster Raheem Sterling in the Sweden game.

Hodgson said: “We kept Jenkinson up our sleeves on this occasion, but he’ll be in our thoughts for the next friendly.”

Jenkinson qualifies for Finland through his mother, but it is understood he wants to throw in his lot with England.

Hodgson wants to give Sterling his chance, having called him up late for the previous World Cup qualifier against Ukraine.
