Swansea, Arsenal, Michu,

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has said that the Swans are keen to hold only both Spanish star Michu and Wales’s international defender Ashley Williams with talk that Arsenal is preparing a late swoop in the transfer window.

Huw Jenkins declares in no uncertain terms that the Swans want to keep hold of their best players, with Arsenal reportedly interested in turning to the pair late in the window.

Arsenal could not agree a deal for centre-back Williams during the earlier part of the window, and after coming up against a brick wall when trying to sign Liverpool’s Luis Suarez have now turned their attention towards goal scoring sensation Michu.

Jenkins says the team are focused on doing well this season, and in order to do that they must keep their best players.

“Nothing has changed,” the Swans chief told the press. “There has been no contact, as far as our football club is concerned, in connection with anybody and we wouldn’t welcome any bids.

“The overriding point from our football club is that we are not looking to sell any of our players and they are not up for sale.

“We want to strengthen our squad, we feel we’ve done that and we continue to look forward to the season ahead. That has not changed.”

Reports out of Wales suggest that Swansea are in the market for a striker, and are watching developments with Wolves Kevin Doyle with Jenkins adding: : “We are still looking for the right one and we will wait to see what develops.”
