Vazques, Getafe, Swansea, Laudrup,

Swans manager Michael Laudrup says that he is still eager to sign a new striker before the window closes on Monday night.

Currently he is considering West Brom’s  Peter Odemwingie and Alvaro Vazquez from Getafe both of whom he thinks would be right for the South Wales club.

While Odemwingie is a name Swansea have been linked to since the start of the summer reports out of Spain suggest that a bid for the Spanish U-21 player Vazquez has been made, and that it is £2.5 million.

Laudrup said: “I don’t want to go into details too much. I have told you many times the position I am looking for and the player I need, someone with different qualities and characteristics.

“Vazquez is a young player and a little different. He is a young forward who plays wide and he has the characteristics we were talking about, like Odemwingie.

“I imagine that’s why his name came up, because they both fit into the profile that we are looking for.

“I can’t say that we are putting in bids, just that we are talking to different persons and we have alternative possibilities.

“The only thing I can confirm is that we have nothing near completion. On the other hand, when do you know you are close? You never know.”
