As question marks now start to hang over whether or not Jose Mourinho will in fact take over from Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho at the end of the season start to appear there are reports in the press today that claim the Portuguese manager agent Jorge Mendes is set to sit down with Red Devils executive vice chairman Ed Woodward and iron out a deal once and for all.

Mourinho is now thought to believe that despite having a verbal contract in place, the Northwest giants may balk at making a change now and allow the 64-year-old Dutchman to see out the remaining year of his contract, and as such had instructed super-agent Jorge Mendes to meet with Woodward and finalize the deal according to Manchester Evening News.

Former Chelsea boss, Mourinho was thought to have been contacted by United following the humiliating loss to Danish minnows Midtjylland back in February and was thought to have been given verbal assurances that he would be appointed manager at the end of the season.

If for some reason United have now had a change of heart it will be hard to imagine the “special one” remaining quiet about the situation, so one way or another we should hear something next week.
