Sunderland has made an £8million bid for Liverpool striker Fabio Borini, according to the Daily Mail.

The forward enjoyed a successful loan spell on Wearside two seasons ago, but rejected a permanent move to the Stadium of Light last summer.

Sunderland bid £10million then, but have lowered their offer this time around.

However, the Reds could still accept, with Borini thought to be surplus to requirements at Anfield and any proposed move back to Serie A now unlikely to happen before the transfer window closes.
