According to reports coming out of Uruguay , Liverpool’s want to get away striker Luis Suarez is about to make a dramatic U-turn and commit his future to Anfield.

Suarez has been keen to move away from Anfield all summer in the desire to play Champions League football, yet despite all the threats to quit he now appears ready to abandon a move away and commit himself to a contract extension.

Martin Charquero, of GolTV Latin American Has said that Suarez has told him personally that he will be staying on Merseyside. He tweeted: “Luis Suarez confirms to me he will not leave Liverpool. The support of the fans has influenced his decision.”

“Suarez see it as likely that he’ll sign a renewal (extension) to the contract that binds him to Liverpool.”

Steven Gerrard, Liverpool’s captain said yesterday that he would like to see Suarez stay, and that the club would do all that they could to make that happen.

Gerrard said: “It’s very important (Suarez stays). He is one of the best players in the world.

“I can understand why clubs are showing an interest in him.

“If I can use my influence to try to get him to stay then of course I will because I love playing with him and I don’t want him to go.

“For Liverpool to be successful and move forward we have to keep our best players.”

Suarez will miss the first six matches of the season while he serves out the remainder of his ban after having bitten Chelsea’s Branislava Ivanovic on the arm.
