Sturridge back in training for Liverpool

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers Knows how important it is for striker Daniel Sturridge to be fit for the start of the season.

The Liverpool striker had been side-lined with an ankle injury he picked up while playing for England in a friendly against the Republic of Ireland back in May before which he had scored 11 goals for Liverpool after having joined the club from Chelsea back in January.

The future of striker Luiz Suarez is still up in the air, and should the striker still be a Liverpool play at the start of the season he still faces a six match ban through suspension.

“Thankfully Daniel had his first training session (on Monday) with the team and I thought he looked very sharp,” he said in The Times.

“He obviously had an injury at the end of the season which set him back, but he’s worked very hard along with the medical guys who have done a great job with him.

“He’s played no part in the pre-season so you put him in at the top end of the field with his pace, power and his quality and we are able to add something more to the group as well.

“So it all bodes well for us for the beginning of the season and sets us up nice and solid and exciting for the first game.
