Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is snatching super spy Barry Hunter from champions Manchester City to become his new chief scout.

Spy catcher: Rodgers is nicking another super-scout from Man City

Rodgers will appoint fellow Irishman Hunter, who worked with him at Reading in his younger days, and make him his second capture from City.

Hunter – a specialist in the Italian market for Roberto Mancini – fills the key position as Rodgers looks to revamp his staff without a director of football.

Rodgers has already swooped on City for head of scouting Dave Fallows and this latest move will leave the moneybags outfit without another top recruiter.

The Kop chief wants an elite committee of talent spotters, with Hunter on the road and computer wizard Fallows doing the researching.
