Coentrao, Real Madrid, Tottenham,

Having just signed Christian Eriksen from Ajax you could be forgiven if you thought Tottenham’s spending spree has come to an end, yet you would be mistaken as they are still trying to sign Real Madrid defender Coentrao.

So far this season the 25-year-old defender has not featured in any of Real Madrid’s matches and is eager to be able to play under Portuguese manager Andres Villas-Boas at White Hart Lane.

The Portuguese international would get a regular starting spot at Spurs something which he is keen on before next summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

So far though, Spurs have been unable to negotiate a transfer fee, or to agree personal terms with the player despite their desire to sign the former Benfica player.
