Tottenham, Liverpool, Willian, transfer,

Reports out of Russia suggest that Tottenham have beaten Liverpool in the race to sign Anzhi’s attacking Brazilian midfielder Willian.

Willian was set to be Liverpool’s marquee summer signing, yet it appears he has agreed to £30 million move from Anzhi Makhachkala to White Hart Lane if reports in Sport-Express are true.

Liverpool were seen as favourites to sign the 25-year-old after their own Brazilian born players had been in contact with the player urging him to join the Reds.

This will be yet another blow to Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers after earlier failing to sign Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan who opted for Borussia Dortmund over Liverpool, and then Diego Costa who turned Liverpool down to stay at Atletico Madrid where he could compete in the Champions League.

With the future of Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez still not settled Rodgers will be desperate to bring in a couple more players before the transfer window close on September 2nd.
