Tottenham manager Andres Villas-Boas is set to let star summer signing from AS Roma Erik Lamela move to Atletico Madrid in January after failing to settle in with the north London club where he has only made two starts since his £30 million move from Roma during the summer.

Reports coming out of Spain suggest that talks between the two clubs have already begun and that the two sides think that letting the native Spanish speaker spent the rest of the season playing in La Liga would help him to regain his confidence.

The 21-year-old Argentinean certainly has plenty of time on his side to prove himself, and after having made such a huge investment in the talented midfielder Spurs CEO Daniel Levy will be keen for the player to get back to the form he showed in Italy, and that a short tem move to Spain could be the answer.
