Álvaro Arbeloa has played down suggestions that he is looking to leave Real Madrid and return to the Premiership despite being linked to his former club Liverpool along with both Arsenal and Chelsea.

The now 32-year-old joined Real Madrid from Liverpool in 2009 and says he is happy to see out his playing days at the Santiago Bernabeu despite having missed the clubs last two games.

Speaking on the programme ‘Al Primer Toque’ on the Spanish radio station Onda Cero, he said: “I am very lucky to be at Madrid, I have one and a half years left [on my contract] and hopefully I can continue as long as possible, that my last shirt in football is the white one.
