Following Liverpool’s initial big of £20 million for Southampton Adam Lallana the Saints have hit back by telling the Reds it will cost you a further £5 million to sign our Captain according to the Liverpool Echo.

Publically Southampton is claiming that they are under no pressure to sell players this summer even though the Echo is reporting that they still owe £27 million in outstanding transfer fees as well as a loan from owner Katharina Liebherr for renovations to their training facilities meaning that the departure of Lallana to Liverpool and of Luke Shaw to Manchester United is very much on the cards.

The capture of Lallana would be a big coup for Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers who thinks that Lallana’s ability to play in a number of positions would be an asset to the club.

The St Albans born 26-year-old joined Southampton at the age of 12 and is said to be looking forward to getting the Liverpool move all sorted out before getting on the plane with Roy Hodgson’s England squad where he is hoping to shine during the World Cup.
