Southampton’s Croatian defender Dejan Lovren has put in a transfer request in order to force the club to let him join Liverpool according to the Daily Star.

Lovren is a hot commodity not only wanted by Liverpool but also by former Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino who is now in charge at Tottenham.

Liverpool however remain the defenders dream destination as it would allow him to play Champions league football next season something he would not get at White Hart Lane.

Liverpool has already signed Southampton striker Rickie Lambert and are involved in negotiations over midfielder Adam Lallana, and now Lovren who moved to Southampton from Lyon for £7 million last summer could be the latest Southampton player to join the exodus to Anfield.
